Lozère: Land of huge multi-faceted open spaces
The Tarn and Jonte Gorges cut a gash deep into the Sauveterre Grands Causses and the Méjean Causses to form a grandiose natural feature which enjoys international renown, plus to the north, the Lot Valley, close to the river's source, separates the Sauveterre Causse from Aubrac and Margeride. These areas have retained numerous traces of a rich and prestigious past. The originality of the Causse landscape, the surprising sculpted rocks such as ruined villages and these vast sheep-rearing lands present a calm invitation to hiking and nature lovers.
