The Tarn & the trout
The Tarn is one of the most beautiful European rivers for fishing lovers.
It is home to trouts, minnows, gudgeons, cottids, very big barbels, daces and chubs.
The river runs on a bed made of limestone slabs, pebbles and tufa blocks where trouts like to hide out. Live bait fishing is the most popular technique, but fly fishing is gaining followers in the Gorges, especially among those using nymphs.
As the river is very busy with canoes from June to September, it is better to fish early in the morning and in the late afternoon. It’s even better from Spring to mid-June.
